Pokemon Rubi (S) feels like coming back to an old friend. The Hoenn region is still full of little surprises, like that patch of grass near Rustboro where you can find a rare Ralts if you're patient. The early game drags a bit with all the tutorials, but once you get past that, it's just you and your team against the world.
I remember getting stuck on Brawly's gym for days because my team wasn't balanced. Ended up grinding Wingulls near Dewford until my Torchic evolved. The pixel art holds up surprisingly well, especially the way water shimmers when you surf. Some of the route designs feel cramped now, but that's part of the charm.
Pokemon Rubi (S) isn't perfect, but it's one of those games where even the flaws feel nostalgic after a while.
