The first time you step into Littleroot Town, the music hits just right, and you know you're in for another adventure. The Hoenn region has this weird mix of water and land routes that somehow makes it feel bigger than it is.

I remember getting stuck early on because I didn't realize you had to go through Petalburg Woods to progress. Spent hours grinding my Torchic against wild Poochyenas before figuring it out. The gym leaders here actually put up a decent fight, especially Wattson with his Magneton if you picked the fire starter.

The water routes can drag a bit, but diving spots and secret bases help break up the monotony. Pokemon - Sapphire Version - V1.1 still holds up as one of the more balanced entries in the series.
