Pokemon Secret Diaries feels like stumbling into a side of the Pokemon world you weren't supposed to see. The usual gym battles and rival fights are there, but scattered between them are these weird little journal entries—some trainer left notes about their team, or scribbled theories about how moves really work.

Early on, you find a half-burned page talking about a Pokemon that doesn't exist in the official dex. It makes you start checking every bookshelf and trash can, just in case. The writing's rough in places, like someone translated it too fast, but that kinda adds to the mystery.

Battles play out like a standard GBA Pokemon game, but the team-building feels different. Some moves have odd descriptions, like they're hiding mechanics the game won't explain. I spent way too long testing if "moonlit scratch" did more damage at night. (It didn't.)

Pokemon Secret Diaries isn't polished, but it's got this strange charm if you like digging for secrets. Just don't expect all of them to lead anywhere.
