Pokémon Snap is one of those weird, wonderful N64 games that shouldn’t work but totally does. You’re basically a wildlife photographer—except instead of lions or elephants, you’re snapping shots of Pikachu napping in flowers or Charizard breathing fire over a lava pit. The game moves you along set paths (no free roaming here), so you’ve gotta time your shots just right—throw an apple to lure a Pokémon into frame, or hit them with a Pester Ball to get them to react. The photos get graded later, and somehow, even blurry shots of a Squirtle’s backside feel weirdly rewarding.

It’s way more relaxing than most Pokémon games, but there’s still strategy—figuring out how to trigger rare Pokémon behaviors or lining up the perfect shot before the rail cart whisks you away. The graphics were impressive for the N64, and honestly, the charm holds up. If you ever wanted to see what Pokémon look like when they’re just vibing in the wild, this is your game.
