The game throws you into these little on-rails courses—jungles, beaches, caves—where Pokémon pop up in unexpected ways. At first, I just snapped whatever moved, but then you realize the game grades you on composition, poses, even how centered your subject is. Suddenly you’re waiting for that split-second when three Squirtles stack into a totem pole.

It’s got that classic N64 jank—the graphics are blocky, the controls take some getting used to—but the sheer creativity of the Pokémon interactions makes up for it.
