Game Overview
Pokémon Snap on the N64 is still one of the weirdest, most charming spin-offs in the series. You’re not battling—just riding through these little diorama-like levels on rails, snapping photos of Pokémon doing their thing. Pikachu riding a surfboard, Squirtle splashing around, Charizard snoozing in a volcano… it’s oddly relaxing.
The game judges your shots based on composition and how close you get, which sounds simple until you realize some Pokémon only show up if you toss apples at bushes or play the flute at the right moment. I must’ve replayed the beach level a dozen times trying to get that perfect Magikarp mid-jump shot.
It’s short, and the graphics haven’t aged gracefully, but there’s something magical about how alive the Pokémon feel when they’re just… existing. Still holds up if you’re into slow, observational games.
