You control one of two vertical paddles, moving it up and down to deflect a square ball back toward your opponent. The main objective is to be the last to miss the ball, scoring a point each time it gets past the other player's paddle. Its signature mechanics are the angled returns, where the ball's rebound changes depending on which part of the paddle makes contact, and the increasing speed of the ball as a rally continues. The pacing is methodical at first but can become frantic; the difficulty comes from the precision required and the ball's accelerating tempo. It feels surprisingly tense for a game about two lines and a square.
