Jungle carnage with Arnold—dodging pits, spraying bullets at soldiers and aliens, all while that tense movie music pumps in the background. Clunky but weirdly addictive once you get the rhythm.

Game Overview

Predator on the NES came out in 1987, a Capcom release that tried to capture the feel of the movie on the console. It was part of that wave of licensed games from the era, some of which were surprisingly decent efforts to translate a film's action into 8-bit form.

You control Major Alan "Dutch" Schaefer, moving through a dense jungle from a side-scrolling perspective. Your main goal is to find and defeat the Predator, but you first have to rescue hostages and eliminate enemy soldiers. The game uses a screen-by-screen exploration structure; you move left or right until you clear an area of threats, then proceed. You have a machine gun with limited ammo and a knife for close combat, and you can find other weapons like a spear gun. The pacing is deliberate, and the difficulty is high, with precise jumps over pits and aggressive enemies. It feels tense and unforgiving, a slow crawl through hostile territory where every screen cleared is a small victory.
