Puzzle Star came out in 2003 as an arcade cabinet release from Galactic Games Inc. It was part of that wave of puzzle games you’d find wedged between racing and fighting cabinets, straightforward but absorbing enough to keep you feeding in quarters between errands or while waiting for a friend.

You control a cursor to grab and drop symbols from a wobbly, precarious stack, trying to form matches of three or more to clear them from the screen. The main goal is to keep the tower from toppling over by clearing rows quickly, all while a timer steadily counts down. Key mechanics include chaining combos for bonus time and using special star symbols to wipe entire sections at once.
