Game Overview

Q*bert's Qubes came out in 1983 from Gottlieb, the same folks who made the original Q*bert. It was one of those arcade games that tried to build on a hit, offering a twist on the hopping puzzle formula that felt familiar but different enough to stand on its own.

You control Q*bert, hopping from cube to cube across a three dimensional pyramid made of spinning blocks. Your goal is to rotate each cube until its top matches the target color shown on the side of the screen. Enemies like Coily the snake and other bouncing foes try to knock you off the edge or disrupt your progress. The cubes spin with each hop, adding a layer of planning to every move, and the pace picks up quickly as new colors and more aggressive enemies are introduced. It feels like a tense, sometimes frantic race to outmaneuver your opponents while solving the pattern before time or mistakes catch up with you.
