Radical Rex came out for the Super Nintendo in 1994, developed by Beam Software. It was part of that wave of early 90s platformers where developers tried mixing genres and characters to stand out. You played as a skateboarding dinosaur, which was definitely a concept.
You control Rex, a T-Rex on a skateboard, moving through prehistoric levels. The goal is to rescue your girlfriend from an evil shaman. Rex can breathe fire at enemies, perform skateboard tricks to cross gaps, and collect eggs to earn extra lives. The controls feel a bit loose, making some jumps tricky, and the difficulty spikes in later stages. Playing it feels like a strange, slightly janky trip back to an era where any idea could become a game.
