Play Raf World (Japan) Online

Dodge bullets through abandoned space stations, swapping between weapons as robotic enemies swarm—Sunsoft nailed that tense, precise NES action vibe. That soundtrack still slaps decades later.

Game Overview

Raf World (or Journey to Silius in Japan) is one of those NES gems that feels way ahead of its time. You play as Jay McCray, a guy out for revenge after terrorists kill his dad—classic '80s action movie stuff, but with Sunsoft's signature tight controls and killer soundtrack.

The first level throws you right into a run-and-gun frenzy: dodging enemy fire, jumping over pits, and figuring out which weapons actually work (spoiler: the spread shot is your best friend). The atmosphere’s weirdly immersive for an 8-bit game—abandoned space stations, flickering lights, and these creepy robotic enemies that just keep coming. It’s tough, but in that satisfying way where every death feels like your fault.

Also, that title screen music? Absolute banger. Still gets stuck in my head.
