Game Overview

Realms of Chaos came out in 1995 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series, published by Apogee Software. It was a time when dungeon crawlers were plentiful, and this one fit right in with its top-down perspective and fantasy setting. You don't hear it mentioned as often as some other titles from that era, but it had its own quiet appeal for those who enjoyed methodical, party-based adventures.

You control a party of up to six characters, each with distinct classes and abilities, navigating through maze-like dungeons one screen at a time. The main goal is to explore these environments, defeat monsters in turn-based combat, and gather pieces of the Triforce-like artifacts to restore order. Combat is deliberate; you position your party members carefully and choose actions for each one, knowing that a wrong move can lead to a quick defeat. The pacing is slow, and the difficulty is unapologetic, demanding patience and strategy. It feels like piecing together a dangerous puzzle where every encounter could be your last.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
