Play RISK (The Computer Version) Online
Control armies, conquer territories, and eliminate opponents in this classic strategy game aimed at global domination.
I first played the MS-DOS version of Risk back in 1989, a digital adaptation of the classic board game published by Parker Brothers. It was a straightforward port for its time, running on those beige boxes with a CGA or EGA display, and it captured the essence of the tabletop experience without much fuss. You didn't need a powerful machine; it was just there, a reliable time sink between homework sessions.
You control one of several world powers, moving armies across a simplified map of the world, one territory at a time. The main objective is total global domination by eliminating all other players. Key mechanics include placing armies at the start of your turn based on the number of territories you hold, then attacking adjacent regions by rolling virtual dice; the higher roll wins, but you can easily lose a big stack to bad luck. The pacing is slow and thoughtful, almost meditative, with the computer opponents making calculated, sometimes predictable moves. It feels like a quiet, solitary war game where every decision carries weight, and a single unlucky roll can undo an hour of careful planning.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
