Game Overview

Scavengers of the Mutant World came out in 1988 for MS-DOS, published by Interstel Corporation. It was one of those early post-apocalyptic games that leaned into survival mechanics, not just combat. You could feel the era's limitations in its graphics and interface, but it offered a depth that kept you coming back.

You control a squad of scavengers exploring a dangerous wasteland. Your goal is to gather enough resources and technology to build a vehicle and escape. The game uses turn-based movement and combat, with each character having unique skills and equipment that can fail or break at critical moments. You manage food, ammunition, and radiation levels while mapping out ruins screen by screen. It moves slowly, demanding careful planning, and the difficulty can feel punishing when supplies run low. Playing it feels like a tense, uncertain struggle where every decision carries weight.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
