Game Overview

Seven Gates of Jambala is one of those weird, late-era Amiga games that feels like it was made by someone who played too much Dungeon Master and then had a fever dream. You’re dumped into this first-person dungeon crawler with no handholding—just cryptic runes, weird sound effects, and a lot of trial-and-error combat. The graphics are chunky but weirdly atmospheric, especially when you stumble into a room full of floating skulls or some nonsense.

At first, I kept dying because I didn’t realize you could actually sidestep attacks instead of just tanking them. The magic system is obtuse but kind of satisfying once you figure out which symbols do what (hint: save before experimenting). It’s janky, unbalanced, and occasionally frustrating, but there’s something oddly compelling about its weird little world. Not for everyone, but dungeon-crawl masochists might dig it.
