Game Overview

Shining Force: Resurrection of the Dark Dragon is basically a polished-up version of the classic Genesis SRPG, but with some nice tweaks for the GBA. You still get that same grid-based tactical combat where positioning matters way more than you'd think at first—mess up and suddenly your healer's getting swarmed by zombies. The new characters they added are hit or miss (some feel tacked on), but the extra story bits with Dark Dragon actually make the villain less of a random final boss.

First ten minutes? You're recruiting knights and archers in a hurry because the tutorial throws you into a fight almost immediately. The sprite work holds up surprisingly well, though the battle animations drag if you don't turn them off. Still one of the better ways to play this if you missed the original.
