Game Overview

Shining the Holy Ark is one of those Saturn RPGs that never got enough love. You play as Arthur, a mercenary who takes what seems like a simple job—hunt down a rogue ninja—but of course, things spiral into something way bigger. Classic RPG setup, but the execution is solid.

The dungeons and battles are first-person, which feels surprisingly immersive for a mid-90s game. Combat’s turn-based, but with a twist: you can recruit pixies hidden around the world to fight alongside you. Some are total game-changers, others just look cute fluttering around in battle. No spoilers, but there’s one near the starting area if you poke around enough.

It’s got that old-school Shining vibe, but plays more like a traditional dungeon crawler than the strategy-heavy Force games. If you’re into Saturn RPGs or just want a solid, slightly obscure 90s JRPG, this one’s worth digging up.
