Play Shrek - Smash n' Crash Racing (E)(Supremacy) Online
Race as Shrek and friends, drift for boosts, throw items at rivals, and use special moves to claim victory in chaotic tracks inspired by the movies.
I picked up Shrek: Smash n' Crash Racing for the Nintendo DS back in 2006, a time when licensed kart racers were everywhere. It was published by Activision, and it fit right in with the portable multiplayer scene, offering a chaotic take on the genre with a cast straight from the swamp. It wasn't trying to reinvent the wheel, just provide some simple, familiar fun with characters people knew.
You choose from a roster of characters like Shrek, Donkey, or Fiona and race them through tracks inspired by locations from the films. The main goal is straightforward: finish first. You drift around corners to build boost, pick up weapons like fireballs or pumpkins to lob at opponents, and use character-specific special moves triggered by tapping icons on the touch screen. The AI racers are aggressive, often ganging up on the player, which keeps the races tense and unpredictable from start to finish. It feels like a messy, loud brawl on wheels, where a well-timed item can completely turn the race around.
