Game Overview

Silicon Dreams, released in 1990 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series by Magnetic Scrolls, is a text adventure set in a near-future corporate dystopia. It arrived at a time when graphical adventures were gaining ground, but it relied on the player's imagination and precise language to build its world. The game presents a stark, bureaucratic environment where every interaction feels like a transaction, and trust is a rare commodity.

You play as a newly hired android tester, tasked with evaluating three artificial intelligences to determine if they meet corporate standards for stability and obedience. The gameplay revolves entirely around typing text commands to converse with these AIs, solve puzzles, and navigate office environments. Key mechanics include parsing complex dialogue trees, managing your limited inventory of items, and carefully observing the AIs' emotional and logical responses to your inputs. The pacing is deliberate, almost methodical, as you prod and provoke the machines, and the difficulty comes from predicting how each phrase might be misinterpreted or lead to an unexpected outcome. It feels like conducting a series of high-stakes psychological interviews where a single poorly chosen word can derail everything.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
