Simpsons Road Rage came out for the GameCube in 2001, developed by Radical Entertainment and published by Electronic Arts. It was one of those early licensed games that tried to capture the show's humor in a playable form, arriving when the console was still new and developers were figuring out what to do with its hardware. The game clearly took inspiration from Crazy Taxi, but it wrapped that formula in a thick layer of Springfield charm, letting players drive through familiar locations while characters from the show shouted one-liners.

You control various members of the Simpson family (and a few other Springfield residents) as they drive a taxi to pick up and drop off passengers under a time limit. The main objective is to earn enough money to buy back the public transit system from Mr. Burns, which involves completing fares, finding shortcuts, and avoiding obstacles. Signature mechanics include weaving through traffic, performing near misses for time bonuses, and occasionally dealing with special passenger requests or vehicle conditions. The pacing is frantic, and the difficulty can spike when timers run short or other drivers get aggressive. It feels like a chaotic, slightly janky arcade experience that leans heavily on its source material for personality.
