Game Overview

So, Sonic 1 – Revelation is basically someone’s love letter to the original Genesis game, but with enough changes to make you double-take. The first time I booted it up, Green Hill Zone looked familiar—until I spotted a new shortcut hidden behind some palm trees. Suddenly, I was taking routes I’d never seen before, and the music had this slightly remixed vibe that kept catching me off guard.

It’s still classic Sonic—you’ll bounce off badniks, lose rings in the most annoying ways, and curse at Marble Zone’s lava—but now there are these little surprises tucked everywhere. Some levels twist in ways the original never did, and the physics feel just a tiny bit snappier. If you’ve played the first game a hundred times, this version actually makes you pay attention again.

Honestly, it’s the kind of hack that makes you wish Sega had dropped an official expansion back in the day.
