Sonic Blastman 2 came out for the Super Nintendo in 1994, developed and published by Taito. You control the titular Blastman, a hero whose solution to every problem is a devastating punch. Your objective is to fight through side-scrolling stages, clearing each screen of enemies before moving forward. The signature mechanics are the punch power meter, which builds as you land hits and allows for super-powered attacks, and the sheer environmental destruction; you can punch through walls, smash parked cars, and send enemies flying off the screen with a well-timed blow. The pacing is fast and chaotic, with a difficulty that spikes quickly due to aggressive enemy swarms. It feels like a controlled demolition derby where you are the wrecking ball.
