Sonic Colours on the Nintendo DS came out in 2010, developed by Dimps and published by Sega. It was part of a wave of handheld Sonic games that tried to capture the speed and style of the console entries, but built for the smaller screen. The game takes place across a series of themed amusement park stages built in space by Dr. Eggman, each with its own visual style and obstacles.

You control Sonic, running and jumping through side-scrolling levels filled with loops, springs, and enemies. The main goal is to reach the end of each stage while collecting rings and freeing alien creatures called Wisps. Using special capsules scattered through the stages, Sonic can transform with Wisp powers like drilling underground, floating through the air, or boosting forward at high speed. The levels are compact but encourage replaying to find alternate routes and hidden red rings. It feels fast and responsive, with just enough challenge to keep you trying one more time. The overall experience is energetic and satisfying, especially when you chain moves together without breaking momentum.
