Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing came out on the Nintendo DS in 2010, developed by Sumo Digital. You pick a character from across Sega's history, like Sonic, AiAi from Super Monkey Ball, or even Ulala from Space Channel 5, and race them on tracks inspired by their respective games. You drift around corners to build a boost, fire weapons you pick up from item boxes to hinder opponents, and unleash a powerful All-Star move when your special meter fills. The pacing is fast, and the AI can put up a decent fight, especially on higher difficulties. It feels responsive and chaotic in the best way, a genuine rush when you nail a perfect drift chain and surge into the lead.
