Space Cavern came out for the Atari 2600 in 1981, published by Apollo. It was one of those early games that tried to do something a little different on the system, a straightforward but tense shooter set on a hostile alien world.

You control a small ship at the bottom of the screen, moving left and right to shoot waves of descending electric dinosaurs. Your main goal is to survive as long as possible, clearing each wave before the next one appears. The key mechanics are your limited lateral movement and the need to time your shots carefully; the dinosaurs move in unpredictable patterns, and if any reach the bottom, they zap you. The pacing is relentless, and the difficulty ramps up quickly, demanding sharp reflexes. It feels like a constant, frantic battle against an endless tide.
