Game Overview

Space-Net - Cosmo Red (Japan) is one of those weird little Game Boy Color shooters that somehow slipped under the radar. You’ve got this neon-soaked spaceship dodging through swarms of alien ships, and the controls are surprisingly crisp—like, your shots actually land where you want them to, which isn’t always a given with these old-school shooters.

It’s got that classic Gradius feel but with these bizarre, almost dreamlike enemy designs that scream late-90s Japanese arcade culture. The pixel art pops on the GBC’s screen, especially if you’ve got one of those backlit mods. No lengthy tutorials or story—just you, a few lives, and a whole lot of aliens to vaporize.

Definitely not the most polished or deep shooter out there, but there’s something oddly satisfying about its simplicity. If you’re into obscure retro games, this one’s worth a few rounds between your Pokémon sessions.
