Game Overview

Spy Hunter on MS-DOS is one of those games that somehow makes driving in a straight line feel like an action movie. You start off in this slick black car that looks straight out of a spy flick, and within seconds, trucks are trying to ram you off the road while motorcycles with sidecars full of goons start shooting. The controls are surprisingly smooth for an old DOS game—tap a button to drop oil slicks or switch to machine guns, and suddenly you're the one doing the ramming.

What I love is how it keeps throwing curveballs at you. Just when you're getting comfortable dodging bullets on the highway, the road disappears and you're suddenly skidding onto a river, your car transforming into a speedboat mid-air. The soundtrack nails that classic spy thriller vibe too—you'll recognize the theme immediately if you've ever watched old detective shows.

It's not exactly deep strategy, but that's the point. You either outdrive the chaos or explode spectacularly. The MS-DOS version holds up better than you'd expect, though good luck finding a keyboard that feels as satisfying as an arcade stick. Watch out for the smoke screens—they'll wreck you if you're not paying attention.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
