Play Street Fighter 2 – Special Championship Edition Online

I remember picking up Street Fighter 2: Special Championship Edition for the Sega Genesis in 1993, a time when home ports of arcade fighters were still a big deal. Capcom managed to bring a lot of the arcade experience home, and for Genesis owners, this was the version to have. It felt like a real step up from what we'd seen before on the console.

You choose one of twelve fighters, including the four main bosses, and face off against the rest in one-on-one matches. The goal is to win two rounds per fight by depleting your opponent's health bar, working your way up to a final showdown with M. Bison. Key mechanics include executing special moves, like fireballs and dragon punches, by inputting specific joystick and button combinations; managing your spacing to control the fight; and learning to block high and low attacks. The pacing is fast, and the difficulty ramps up sharply in later matches, demanding quick reflexes and memorization of move sets. Landing a perfectly timed super combo to finish a match provides a genuine rush of satisfaction.
