Game Overview

Street Fighter 2 – Special Championship Edition on the Sega Genesis is the version I keep coming back to, even after all these years. Yeah, the arcade original was legendary, but this port nails it—especially since you finally get to play as the bosses. There’s something weirdly satisfying about wrecking people as Vega, clawing your way across the screen like a maniac.

The speed toggle is a nice touch, too. Sometimes you want that classic, methodical pace, and other times you just crank it up and watch Ryu’s fireballs fly twice as fast. The animations still hold up—those chunky pixels somehow make every Shoryuken feel weighty—and the music? Instant nostalgia. That "Guile’s Theme" still slaps.

If you’ve got a Genesis hooked up, this is the one to throw in when you want a no-nonsense, back-to-basics fighting game. Just don’t blame me when you spend an hour trying to land M. Bison’s Psycho Crusher.
