Play Super Star Shooter Advance Online

Super Star Shooter Advance takes that classic arcade space shooter feel and squeezes it perfectly onto the Game Boy Advance. The pixel art got a nice glow-up—everything’s crisper, and the explosions actually make you wince when your ship gets hit. They even tweaked the first boss so it doesn’t feel like you’re fighting a screen-filling monster on a postage stamp.

At first, I thought it’d just be a straight port, but the little changes add up. Your shots feel punchier, and there’s this new weapon pickup that fires these weird spiraling lasers—took me a few tries to figure out the timing, but it shreds smaller enemies. Still brutally hard in that old-school way, though. You’ll be replaying the first three levels a lot.

If you’ve got a soft spot for shmups that don’t hold your hand, this one’s a great way to wreck your thumbs on the go.
