Play Super Street Fighter II - The New Challengers on sega Online
The Genesis port finally nails Street Fighter’s speed—you’ll grind Fei Long’s rekka chains for hours, even if the sprites are a little rough. That chunky "FIGHT!" yell never gets old.

Capcom released Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers for the Sega Genesis in 1994, bringing the arcade fighter home with a few compromises. The roster expanded to include four new characters, like Cammy and Dee Jay, alongside the familiar faces from earlier versions. While the graphics took a slight hit compared to the arcade cabinet, the core gameplay remained fast and responsive, fitting right in with the Genesis library of action-heavy titles.
You control one of sixteen fighters, each with unique moves and combos, and battle through a series of one-on-one matches. The main goal is to defeat every opponent and become the world warrior champion. Signature mechanics include executing special moves with precise joystick motions, building super combos by landing consecutive hits, and countering enemy attacks with well-timed blocks. The pacing is brisk, and the difficulty ramps up noticeably in later fights, especially against the final bosses. It feels satisfying to land a perfectly timed Dragon Punch or outmaneuver an aggressive opponent with a tactical throw.
