Game Overview

SuperMan-mame is one of those weird, janky arcade games from the late '80s that somehow makes you keep playing even when it frustrates you. You control Superman—sort of—as he awkwardly flies through side-scrolling levels punching robots and dodging projectiles. The hit detection is questionable, and the controls take some getting used to, but there's something charming about its clunky superhero action.

It’s not the deepest game—mostly just moving left to right while mashing the attack button—but the sprite work has that old-school arcade charm. Some enemies explode into satisfying little bolts of electricity, and the boss fights are surprisingly tough. If you're into MAME games, it's worth a look just for the novelty of playing a Superman game that feels like it was made in a weekend.

Just don’t expect Arkham-level combat—this is pure arcade nonsense, and that’s kind of the fun of it.
