Play Superman (Japan) Online

You awkwardly float through Metropolis, punching things that may or may not be enemies while the cape physics fight you every step of the way. It’s that special kind of broken where crashing into buildings becomes its own weird minigame.

Game Overview

Superman for the NES came out in 1987, developed by Kemco. It was part of that wave of early licensed games where the concept often outpaced the execution, and playing it now feels like stepping into a very specific, slightly unhinged corner of the 8-bit era. You control Superman, of course, but the freedom of flight is immediately undercut by the game's own peculiar logic.

You fly screen by screen across a map of Metropolis, punching robots and other odd foes while searching for bomb parts to reassemble. The flight controls are loose and imprecise, making navigation and combat a constant struggle against the environment and your own momentum. It’s a slow, deliberate, and often frustrating process where you frequently get stuck on scenery or misjudge a jump. The whole experience feels like you are fighting the game itself as much as any villain.
