Game Overview

I remember playing Swiss Family Robinson back in 1996, a release from Disney Interactive for MS-DOS. It was one of those games that felt right at home on the platform, with its pixel art and point-and-click style that was common for the era. You don't see many games like it anymore, but at the time, it was a solid adventure title based on the classic story.

You control the Robinson family, moving them screen by screen across the island to gather resources and build up your treehouse base. The main goal is to survive and eventually find a way off the island, which involves exploring caves, solving simple puzzles, and avoiding wildlife like snakes and boars. Combat is minimal, mostly just evading threats or using basic tools. The pacing is slow, almost methodical, and the difficulty comes from managing your supplies and figuring out what to do next without much hand-holding. It feels like a quiet, sometimes lonely struggle to make a home in the wilderness.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
