Syndicate came out on the Amiga in 1993, developed by Bullfrog Productions. You control a squad of four cybernetically enhanced agents, moving them through isometric city maps to complete missions like assassinations, rescues, or data theft. The game gives you tools like miniguns, flamethrowers, and a persuasion device that lets you turn civilians or enemy guards to your side temporarily. Missions are tense and methodical; rushing in usually gets your agents killed, so you learn to use cover, flank enemies, and manipulate the environment. It feels calculated and ruthless, like you're running a wetworks operation rather than playing a hero.
