Game Overview

Tails in Sonic the Hedgehog was a special mode included in the 1993 Sega Genesis release of Sonic the Hedgehog 2, developed by Sega. It was one of the first times a second player could join in a platformer without just mirroring the main character's actions, which felt novel at the time.

You control Miles "Tails" Prower, a two-tailed fox who can fly by spinning his tails like a helicopter. The main goal is the same as Sonic's: race through levels, defeat Robotnik, and collect Chaos Emeralds. Tails' flight lets you bypass obstacles and reach higher areas Sonic can't, but it drains your ring energy if you overuse it. The game isn't particularly hard, but mastering Tails' unique movement adds a fresh layer to the speed-focused platforming. It feels freeing to explore familiar stages from above, finding new routes and secrets.
