The first level throws you right into the sewers, you're smacking enemies with your chosen weapon, whether it's Leo's swords or Raph's sais, and it feels satisfyingly chunky.

The controls are simple but stiff, like most NES games from that era. You can jump and attack, but pulling off special moves takes some practice.
