Game Overview

Okay, so Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Warriors is basically what happens when someone took the SNES, a pile of pizza boxes, and the entire '90s TMNT cartoon, then smashed them together into a fighting game. It’s got that same over-the-top energy as Street Fighter II, but with way more shell-kicking and mutant trash talk.

First thing you’ll notice? The roster isn’t just the turtles—though yeah, Leo’s got his swords, Raph’s got the attitude (and sais), and so on. They threw in weirdos like Leatherhead and Rat King, which is awesome if you’re the kind of person who still remembers random TMNT villains from the toy line. The stages are these bright, chaotic slices of New York, complete with Foot Clan goons cheering (or getting wrecked) in the background.

It’s not as polished as Turtles in Time, but that’s kind of the charm. Special moves feel ridiculous in the best way—like Donnie spinning his staff so fast it turns into a helicopter, or Mikey somehow weaponizing pizza. Versus mode with a friend is where it really shines, though. Nothing beats yelling "Cowabunga!" right before your super move wipes them out.

Honestly, it’s a shame this one didn’t get more love back in the day. If you’re into retro fighters or just miss when TMNT was at its most unhinged, this is a solid way to spend an afternoon.
