Game Overview

Ever played Flying Warriors on NES? It's this weird but cool mashup of two Japan-only Hiryū no Ken games. You lead a team of superheroes—starting with Rick Stalker, this kung fu guy who looks like he stepped out of an '80s action movie—against a demon and his army of weird Tusk Soldiers. The side-scrolling bits feel like a brawler where you're kicking dudes and casting spells (yes, spells), but then it suddenly throws these one-on-one duels at you where you're aiming for weak points on your opponent while protecting your own. Oh, and there's RPG-style boss fights too—because why not?

What really hooked me was the tournament mode. Up to 8 players can go at it, picking from six fighting styles (I always went karate—felt faster). The whole thing's janky in that classic NES way, but there's something charming about how it mashes up genres without caring if it makes sense.
