Play The Great Escape Online
You're a POW sneaking past pixelated Nazis—cutting fences, timing patrols, and praying your makeshift uniform doesn't fade mid-sprint. One wrong move and those barking dogs send you back to the barracks.

The Great Escape came out in 1986 for MS-DOS, developed by Denton Designs. It was one of those games that felt right at home on the platform, a straightforward but tense experience that didn't rely on flashy graphics. You played as a prisoner of war, and the goal was simple: get out.
You control an Allied soldier trapped in a German camp, and your only objective is to escape. The game plays out screen by screen; you cut through fences, avoid spotlights and guards, and sometimes swipe uniforms to blend in. Timing is everything, because patrols follow set routes and the dogs are relentless. It's a methodical, nerve-wracking process where every decision matters, and getting caught means starting over from your cell. Playing it feels like holding your breath for a very long time.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
