The Mask came out in 1995 for the Super Nintendo, developed by Black Pearl Software. It was part of that wave of mid-90s licensed games, trying to capture the manic energy of the film on a cartridge. You see a lot of these movie tie-ins from that era, some good, some forgettable; this one at least had a clear visual style.

You control Stanley Ipkiss, who dons the mask and becomes a green-faced cartoon force of nature. The main goal is to rescue your kidnapped girlfriend, which means fighting through city streets, a museum, and a mob boss's mansion. Your main attacks are a rapid-fire punch and a spinning tornado move that clears nearby enemies. You also collect "power" icons to unleash special weapons, like a giant mallet or a cartoon horn that shoots musical notes. The levels are linear but packed with enemies, and the difficulty can spike unexpectedly in later stages. It feels like a frantic scramble, trying to manage your limited special weapon ammo while dodging constant attacks from all sides.
