Game Overview
Thunder Force Gold Pack 2 bundles two classics—Thunder Force IV and the arcade-only Thunder Force AC—into one solid Sega Saturn package. The ports hold up surprisingly well, and the new CG cutscenes add a little extra flair between stages. You can even unlock alternate ships, which changes up the gameplay just enough to feel fresh without messing with what made these shooters great in the first place.
If you’ve played Thunder Force before, you know what to expect: fast-paced action, killer soundtracks, and that satisfying loop of dodging bullets while blasting everything in sight. The AC version is a nice bonus, especially if you never got to try it in arcades. It’s not a full remaster or anything, but for a mid-’90s re-release, it does the job well.
