Play Tonic Trouble (V1.1 Online
You play as Ed, a clumsy janitor who bumbles through trippy alien worlds, jumping on mutant blobs and inflating yourself like a balloon to reach weird floating islands. It’s janky in that old-school way where the challenge feels unfair until it suddenly clicks.

Tonic Trouble came out for the Nintendo 64 in 1999, developed and published by Ubisoft. It was part of that era on the N64 where 3D platformers were everywhere, each trying something a little different with the hardware. This one stood out for its strange, almost surreal visual style and a premise that felt genuinely odd next to more straightforward adventures.
You control Ed, a janitor who accidentally unleashes a mutagenic green tonic across the galaxy. Your goal is to clean up the mess by collecting scattered canisters across a series of bizarre, interconnected levels. Key mechanics include platforming across uneven terrain, using a pump to inflate enemies until they pop, and solving simple environmental puzzles. The pacing is uneven at times, with some frustrating jumps and unclear objectives, but pushing through the jank delivers a satisfying sense of progress. It feels like navigating a dream where the rules keep shifting, and just when you think you have it figured out, the ground literally changes shape.
