Game Overview

Tony Hawk’s Skateboarding on N64 is the game that made me fall in love with skateboarding—even though I could barely ollie in real life. You start off in a warehouse, just figuring out how to kickflip and grind without faceplanting, but once you get the hang of it, you’re pulling off ridiculous combos at places like the schoolyard or the downtown streets. The controls take a second to click, but when they do, it’s pure flow.

The soundtrack is full of punk and hip-hop bangers that somehow never get old, even after hearing them loop for hours. And yeah, the graphics are blocky by today’s standards, but there’s something charming about how the N64 version forces you to fill in the gaps with imagination. If you ever spent afternoons trying to land a 900 in your friend’s basement, this one’s still a blast.
