Game Overview

So Towers - Lord Baniff’s Deceit is this weird little dungeon crawler for the Game Boy Color that feels like someone squeezed Eye of the Beholder into a tiny cartridge. You start with a shipwrecked crew—pick a fighter, thief, cleric, or mage—and get roped into checking on some missing noble. Of course, the second you step into his tower, the entrance crumbles behind you. Classic.

It’s real-time, so monsters lunge at you while you fumble with spells (you’ve got to mix syllables from scrolls to cast them, which is either annoying or charming, depending on your patience). The maze-like floors are packed with traps, loot, and creatures that really don’t want you leaving. Oh, and if you’ve got a friend with a link cable, you can team up and get lost together. Just don’t blame me when you’re stuck on level 8 arguing over who wasted the last healing potion.
