Toy Story for the Super Nintendo came out in 1996, a time when licensed games were everywhere. Disney Interactive Studios and Pixar put it out, and it was one of those platformers you either loved or found a little frustrating. It didn't try to reinvent the wheel, but it captured the movie's energy in its own way.

You control Woody, moving screen by screen through Andy's room and beyond. The goal is to rescue Buzz Lightyear from Sid's clutches. You jump on rubber ducks for extra bounce, avoid mutant toys in the backyard, and race an RC car through timed obstacle courses. The platforming is stiff, and some jumps require precise timing, which can lead to a few cheap deaths. Still, when you finally clear a tough section, it feels like a real accomplishment.
