Game Overview

Transformers: Decepticons came out for the Nintendo DS in 2007, published by Activision. It was part of that wave of movie tie-in games, and it used the dual screens in a way that felt pretty standard for the time. You don't play as the heroes here; the whole game is from the Decepticon perspective, which was a nice change of pace.

You control one of several Decepticons, switching between them to complete missions that mostly involve destroying things and fighting Autobots. The main goal is to cause as much chaos as possible while hunting down energy sources. Two key mechanics are the transformation, where you scan vehicles to adopt their form for disguise or speed, and the combat, which is straightforward but satisfyingly destructive. The pacing is mission-based, and the difficulty can spike unexpectedly in later stages. It feels like a solid, chaotic power trip from start to finish.
