Game Overview

Transformers: Decepticons V1.1 came out on the Nintendo DS in 2007, published by Activision. It was part of that wave of movie tie-in games that tried to squeeze big action onto the small screen, and it landed right in the middle of the DS's life, when developers were still figuring out how to make 3D work on the dual screens. You play as the Decepticons, which was a nice change of pace from always being the heroic Autobots.

You control Starscream and other Decepticons, switching between robot and vehicle forms to blast through human military defenses. The main goal is to cause as much destruction as possible while completing mission objectives, like destroying key structures or defeating waves of enemies. Signature mechanics include using the touch screen for special attacks and switching forms on the fly, though the transformation can feel a bit awkward. The pacing is fast, and the difficulty spikes suddenly in some sections, especially during boss fights. It feels like a messy but satisfying power trip where you get to be the cause of chaos instead of stopping it.
