Transformers: Autobots on the DS is one of those weirdly fun little tie-ins that actually gets the transforming part right. You start off in a city, smashing stuff as a robot, then tap the screen to fold yourself into a car and zoom around. The first time you scan a random vehicle and suddenly turn into an ice cream truck? Ridiculous, but in the best way.

Missions are simple—beat up Decepticons, climb buildings, cause chaos—but the real hook is unlocking new forms. Helicopters handle like drunken bumblebees, but planes? Now we’re talking. Local multiplayer lets you fight friends (even if they have the Decepticons version), and the daily Wi-Fi missions add some replay value. Just don’t expect deep combat—you’ll be mashing attack while health pickups rain from the sky.

It’s janky, sure, but there’s charm in how committed it is to letting you live out that "robot in disguise" fantasy. The Autobots version even has its own story beats and ending, so Decepticon loyalists miss out on Optimus’ whole arc. A solid time-killer if you’ve got a soft spot for the movie’s vibe.
