Transformers: Autobots came out on the Nintendo DS in 2007, published by Activision. It was part of that wave of movie tie-in games that tried to capture the blockbuster feel on a handheld. The DS was perfect for this kind of thing, with its dual screens offering a mix of action and menus, and it felt like a solid effort for fans of the franchise at the time.

You control one of the Autobots, like Bumblebee or Optimus Prime, in a mission-based open world. The main goal is to protect Earth from the Decepticons by completing objectives that range from escort missions to straight-up brawls. The key mechanics are the transformation between robot and vehicle modes, which you do by tapping the screen, and scanning other cars to unlock new forms. Combat involves locking on to enemies and using a mix of melee and ranged attacks, though the controls can feel a bit loose at times. The pacing is generally fast, with some missions throwing a lot of enemies at you, but it never gets brutally difficult. It feels chaotic and a little janky in the best way, like you're really piloting a giant robot that's barely under control.
