Game Overview

Transformers: Autobots on the DS is basically your chance to live out that childhood fantasy of morphing from robot to car mid-battle. You start off as one of the Autobots (Optimus is there, obviously) and immediately get thrown into chaotic fights where you're punching Decepticons one second and peeling out as a truck the next.

The controls take a second to get used to—transforming feels weirdly satisfying once you nail the timing. The missions are straightforward at first (smash stuff, chase enemies), but later levels actually make you think about when to fight and when to book it in vehicle mode. Also, the pixelated explosions somehow still look cool on the tiny screen.

If you ever wanted to ram Megatron as a speeding pickup truck, this is your game.
